| Picture yourself walking slowly along the beach. Feeling the warmth of the sun sweeping over your entire body. The wind blows gently. The air is crisp and clear and each breath you take seems to be more invigorating than the last. You can feel the sand gently massaging the soles of your feet with every step you take. |
| Although you try to appear unaware, you can see the other people on the beach staring at
you in utter amazement. Could it be your broad muscular shoulders? Perhaps they are
looking at your toned, firm and shapely legs? Then again, it could be the way that your
washboard abs give you that super hero like appearance. |
| Smiling, you think about the time that you spent in the gym over the last few months.
Training hard and consistently but not overdoing it. Enjoying the foods that helped you
create your new eye-catching physique. |
| According to Dr. Charles Garfield, (one of the leaders in the field of peak performance for
athletics and business) almost all world-class athletes and other peak performers use
visualization. They see it, feel it and create the mental experience before they actually do
it. |
| You can visualize any situation in your life where you want to respond or perform in a
certain way. This could be a situation where you need to be more assertive, focused or
simply make a better choice. |
Applying Visualization To Your Training |
Find a quiet place where you can clear your mind and relax. Close your eyes. Picture
yourself at the gym (or wherever you enjoy training) performing each exercise with total
focus and intensity. Feel your muscles stretching and contracting during each perfectly
executed repetition.
Picture yourself resting between sets and using that time to focus on
how much effort youre going to put into the next set (as opposed to being distracted by
the opposite sex). |
| You can also apply visualization to your diet and nutritional program. For example, if
youre having trouble sticking to your diet, try to visualize yourself in different eating
situations and making better choices. |
The key to effective visualization lies within your imagination. Making the situation as
realistic as possible is very important. This will make things much easier when you are in
the actual situation. The more clearly and vividly you can imagine it, the more deeply you
will experience it.
Create the situation over and over in your mind. In time you should be able to experience the same senses (i.e. taste, touch, smell etc.) that you would have in the
actual situation. |
