I. What Motivates You? |
| II.Creating The Right Motivation. |
This week we take a break from training information in order to take a
closer look at our motivation. After all, if you're not motivated, all the
training advice in the world can't help you. |
| What Motivates You? |
| People are internally and externally motivated. Let's take a look at
external motivation. |
| Externally motivated people are motivated by their environment. When
something changes in their environment, so does their motivation. How
do you know if you're externally motivated? Ask yourself the following
questions. Be honest. |
| Does your mood and attitude change when something or someone
close to you changes? |
| Do you only go to the gym on sunny days, even though it's
inside a building? |
| Do you need certain people to be near in order to feel motivated
to exercise?
|
| If you answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, you are externally
motivated. Externally motivated people tend to make more excuses
when it comes weight training and dieting. Anything that changes in their
environment can turn into a great excuse to miss a workout or eat the
wrong foods. |
| External motivation that inspires you to train is good but what we really
want is to be able to motivate ourselves. We want to be internally
motivated. Creating internal motivation is incredibly rewarding. Picture
yourself never missing a workout again. Imagine eating the right food all
the time. Life without being so affected by everything that surrounds us! |
| Creating The Right Motivation |
|
How do you create internal motivation? Ask yourself a few more
questions.
|
| What will your reward be when you reach your fitness goal? |
| Does the reward justify all the hard work? |
| Is it really worth it? |
| If you can't think of a good enough reward, maybe your time would be better
spent doing something more rewarding. |
| Hopefully you'll realize that the rewards of getting in shape outweigh the
hard work and discipline that it takes to change your physique. Focus on
the rewards and create your own internal motivation. |
